WTA Budapest Day 3 Predictions Including Martina Trevisan vs Kateryna Baindl

Expect plenty of exciting tennis on the third day at the WTA Budapest Grand Prix, with a mix of first and second round action on the schedule in the Hungarian capital. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match on the schedule, including Barbora Krejcikova vs Xiyu Wang. But who will advance?

WTA Budapest Day 3 Predictions

Katerina Siniakova vs Anhelina Kalinina

Head-to-head: Kalinina 1-0 Siniakova

Katerina Siniakova is coming into Budapest on a four-match losing streak, although it’s probably a bit overexaggerated given the quality of most of the opponents she’s faced. Anhelina Kalinina is the favorite in this one though, coming off a clay season with quarterfinal appearances in Charleston and Madrid. While both these events are far from the typical dirt conditions, the Ukrainian’s game generally fits the surface beautifully. Siniakova might have a bit more trouble adapting.

Prediction: Kalinina in 3

Lesia Tsurenko vs Kamilla Rakhimova

Head-to-head: first meeting

Despite struggling for form in recent months, Kamilla Rakhimova pulled off an upset over Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the opening round. The question is whether she can repeat it against someone as experienced as Lesia Tsurenko. The Ukrainian really caught fire during the grass campaign and should still be carrying most of that confidence going forward. Especially as she’s adapted well by beating Carolina Meligeni Rodrigues Alves in straight sets.

Prediction: Tsurenko in 2

Aliaksandra Sasnovich vs Bernarda Pera

Head-to-head: Sasnovich 1-0 Pera

Both players are often some of the more dangerous unseeded floaters in the draw. Bernarda Pera knows how to make use of her left-handedness on clay courts and has already scored three dominant wins here. Aliaksandra Sasnovich dropped a bagel set in her defeat of Fanny Stollar. While the Belarusian can be unstable and very tough to predict, her ceiling should be much higher than Pera’s at this point in time. It’s way more on her racket than on the American’s.

Martina Trevisan vs Kateryna Baindl

Head-to-head: Baindl 1-0 Trevisan

Martina Trevisan’s semifinal run at Roland Garros brought her to the top 30, but she failed to build up on it and didn’t get a single win on grass. However, it’s just a surface that doesn’t suit her in the slightest. If she can keep that confidence from Rabat and Paris going, she’s going to be extremely hard to spot. She’s already shown that in the last two sets of her win against Natalia Szabanin. Kateryna Baindl is no slouch though (made the final at Montpellier two weeks ago), so she’ll need to be careful.

Prediction: Trevisan in 3
