WTA Berlin Day 3 Predictions Including Karolina Pliskova vs Bianca Andreescu

Karolina Pliskova in action at Wimbledon.

Day 3 of the WTA 500 event in Berlin will feature plenty of exciting action, including a blockbuster between Karolina Pliskova and Bianca Andreescu. It will also feature world #6 Maria Sakkari, in a tournament that’s fairly stacked with top ranked players.

WTA Berlin Day 3 Predictions

Maria Sakkari vs Daria Saville

Head-to-head: Sakkari 1-1 Saville

Their Indian Wells matchup earlier this year finished with Saville retiring after only five games, we can only expect there’s no repeat of that. The final winner, however, should be the same. Sakkari hasn’t been successful at Grand Slam level this year, but she’s been solid at tour level and is clearly above Saville, even on a surface where she never got any notable results.
Prediction: Sakkari in 2

Daria Kasatkina vs Ekaterina Alexandrova

Head-to-head: Alexandrova 1-1 Kasatkina< This should be a very tight match on paper, but Alexandrova has been showing some incredible form on grass. With the Den Bosch title last week and a win over Zanevska in the first round here in Berlin, she has now won six consecutive matches and 12 consecutive sets (after losing the first set of her first round match last week). That incredible momentum should see her through here. Prediction: Alexandrova in 2

Ann Li vs Coco Gauff

Head-to-head: first meeting

Gauff had an incredible run in Paris, not dropping a single set en route to the final before losing to a seemingly invincible at the moment Iga Swiatek. The 18-year-old American will be looking to back up that great run in a couple weeks at Wimbledon and she should have little trouble getting past Lu as she fine tunes her game for the upcoming Slam.
Prediciton: Gauff in 2

Aliaksandra Sasnovich vs Andrea Petkovic

Head-to-head: Sasnovich 2-1 Petkovic

This is easily the least glamorous match of the day, with two players who haven’t exactly had any major achievements in their career, but it should still be a fun and tight encounter, certainly more so than when they met in Rome earlier this year and Sasnovich dropped only five games.
Prediction: Sasnovich in 2

Karolina Pliskova vs Bianca Andreescu

Head-to-head: Pliskova 1-1 Andreescu

It’s not every day we see a matchup between a former world #1 and Wimbledon finalist and a former Grand Slam champion in the second round of a 500 event, but here we are. Both players have had very rough years thus far and are nowhere near the level that once made them a threat at Grand Slam level, but on grass Pliskova should have the edge and might even go on to have a great run this week.
Prediction: Pliskova in 2
