WTA Den Bosch Final Prediction: Aryna Sabalenka v Ekaterina Alexandrova

Aryna Sabalenka in action at the WTA Den Bosch Open.

The WTA Den Bosch final is set. Aryna Sabalenka and Ekaterina Alexandrova have stood out well above the competition this week, and will surely put on quite the occasion. As throughout the week, we will be offering up our prediction on the day’s action. But who will come out on top?

WTA Den Bosch Final Prediction

Aryna Sabalenka v Ekaterina Alexandrova

Head-to-head: Sabalenka 2-2 Alexandrova

Sabalenka has done a great job in getting to the final. After coming through a very tight first set in her semifinal against Shelby Rogers, she firmly put her foot on the accelerator – dropping 0 games in the 2nd set. She’s well and truly played like the top seed this week, especially in the crucial moments where things have gotten tricky for her. Her level this week will undoubtedly be a big confidence boost for the rest of the season.

I mentioned earlier in the week that Sabalenka would be looking to prove something this week as she’s banned from Wimbledon. Well, her opponent on Sunday is in the exact same predicament, as she’s Russian. Alexandrova has played pretty phenomenally this tournament. Since dropping the first set against Yastremska in the first round, she hasn’t lost a set. On top of that, she’s absolutely dominated the sets she’s won. Her level has been mighty impressive, and she’s beaten some excellent players too. Can she go one step further?

The pair have met on four occasions, with both of them winning two matches each. Interestingly, every match has been a straight sets win for the victor, and they’ve never played a tiebreak. Whoever has won so far has done so pretty comfortably. This matchup is tougher to predict, seeing as all their meetings have come on hard courts, two of which were indoors. With both of them playing great tennis and their obvious grass court capabilities, this one could well be close.

Alexandrova’s results this tournament make it tempting to pick to win this one, but she hasn’t faced a player of Sabalenka’s calibre yet. The top seed hasn’t had things easy the whole time, but has looked imperious when in the groove. Alexandrova may well take a set, but Sabalenka is a top player for a reason and she should have enough of the answers to come out on top in Den Bosch.

Prediction: Sabalenka in 3
