ATP Den Bosch Final Prediction

Daniil Medvedev vs Tim Van Rijthoven

Head-to-head: first meeting

While Medvedev’s present in the final isn’t quite a surprise, despite the surface, Rijthoven’s is surely one of the biggest fairytale stories at the ATP tour level in a very long time. The Dutch was a considerable underdog in most of this matches this week, but he just kept pulling through one tough opponent after another. His victory over Felix Auger-Aliassime was nothing short of sensational and clutch.  He’s riding an unbelievable wave of confidence and will surely believe he can cap off this dream week with a title in front of his home crowd. While Medvedev will become #1 in the world on Monday for a reason, grass is far from his best surface; although he’s been winning matches this week based on his incredible baseline consistency, he’s far from unbeatable and if Rijthoven can keep up his serving level and ability to come up big in clutch situations he’ll definitely have his chances.

One thing that has to be taken into account is that while playing at ATP final is an entirely new and surely unexpected experience for the Dutch, Medvedev has won many titles in his career, including of course a Grand Slam tournament last year at the US Open. A final at an ATP 250 event is just another day in the office for him while for Rijthoven it will be the most important match of his life. Many players struggled to perform in their first final and facing the world #1 doesn’t exactly help in that regard. In order to win Rijthoven needs to play his very best tennis and it remains to be seen whether he’s capable of bringing it on such a big stage. When it comes to Medvedev, we all know what to expect, he’ll be relentless as always, looking to add yet another title to his ever growing collection.

Prediction: Medvedev in 2
