WTA Den Bosch Semifinal Predictions Including Aryna Sabalenka vs Shelby Rogers

Aryna Sabalenka in action ahead of the WTA Den Bosch Open.

The semifinal matches are upon us at the WTA Libema Open in Den Bosch, Netherlands, and we’ve got two thrilling clashes in store. The final four have all played some exceptional tennis this week, and are all in with a chance at winning the title. As throughout the week, we will be offering up our predictions on the day’s play. So, who books their spot in the final?

WTA Den Bosch Semifinal Predictions

Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Veronika Kudermetova

Head-to-head: Kudermetova 2 – 0 Alexandrova

Alexandrova absolutely demolished Caty McNally on Friday, and her level was highly impressive. She’s clearly come to play this week, and will be looking to get her first win in this matchup. As it’s their first meeting on grass, this could be an interesting affair.

Kudermetova looked imperious at times in her straight sets win over Belinda Bencic, looking unfazed by the 2nd seed. The 6th seed is playing some lovely tennis this week, and will be confident heading into this matchup that currently works well for her. I can definitely see this one going the distance, but Kudermetova’s level was excellent against Bencic and she goes in as the slight favorite here.
Prediction: Kudermetova in 3

Aryna Sabalenka vs Shelby Rogers

Head-to-head: First meeting

Sabalenka grinded out a tough fought win over Van Uytvanck, having to come through a final set tiebreak to get the job done. She’s had a shaky year but wins like this will undoubtedly do her a world of good. As the top seed, she’ll be looking to make a strong showing of herself at the business end of the tournament.

Shelby Rogers has also played really well this week, and navigated herself past the tricky Kirsten Flipkens impressively. However, this is a big step up. Sabalenka is exceptional when she’s high on confidence, as is Rogers. This could well go the distance, and it’ll come down to who has the nerve in the crucial moments. I’ll give the edge to Sabalenka, who should be the better player in this matchup given her game suits these courts.
Prediction: Sabalenka in 3
