French Open Day 5 – Women’s Best Bets Featuring Yulia Putintseva vs Camila Giorgi

Yulia Putintseva in action ahead of the WTA Budapest Grand Prix.

The remainder of the second round matchups will be completed on Day 5 at the French Open. The top half of the draw will be in action which is headlined by the all-conquering Iga Swiatek. The Pole’s matches are almost impossible to bet on at the moment, such is her dominance. Let’s take a look at some of the other matches of the day and try to find the best bets.

French Open Day 5 – Women’s Best Bets

Madison Keys vs Caroline Garcia

Caroline Garcia defied the odds in the opening round when she easily defeated Taylor Townsend despite starting the match as a decent underdog. I think the Frenchwoman is being underrated again in this matchup against Madison Keys. Garcia does well in these types of matchups against aggressive players and usually does her best work as an underdog. Keys has been less than impressive for a while and is very much beatable in these conditions. I definitely think Garcia has a stronger chance than the odds are suggesting.

Yulia Putintseva vs Camila Giorgi

I don’t like this matchup for Camila Giorgi against Yulia Putintseva on a clay court. Putintseva has a fantastic record at Roland Garros, twice a quarterfinalist and generally does her best work on the red clay. Camila Giorgi’s form hasn’t been great this season and she isn’t known for her clay court prowess. This will be a frustrating matchup for Giorgi, especially on this surface thanks to Putintseva’s defensive skills and versatility. It’s the type of matchup where Giorgi can implode with a bunch of unforced errors.
