Day 4 at ATP Geneva Open will be an interesting one. With the top seed Daniil Medvedev defeated by Richard Gasquet, many of the players will feel they have a big chance to lift the title at the end of the week. Let’s have a look who is playing and who we think will advance to the next round?
ATP Geneva Day 4 Predictions
Joao Sousa vs Nikoloz Basilashvili
Head-to-head: Sousa leads 1-0
The pair met over four years ago in Marrakech, where Sousa defeated the Georgian in three close sets. It will probably will be a similar affair as both players are in similar form this season and enjoy playing on clay. But sometimes Basilashvili can be so unpredictable when it comes to form, so slight favourite goes to Sousa.
Prediction: Sousa in 3
Tallon Griekspoor vs Johan Nikles
Head-to-head: First meeting
Nikles will for sure savor the moment playing in front of his home crowd against one Top 100 players in the world. He has come through qualifying and won his first round against a fellow Swiss. It will be a great opportunity for the 25-year-old Swiss to gain more ATP main draw experience, but it will be a tough match for him. Expect the Dutchman to come through without much trouble.
Prediction: Griekspoor in 2
Denis Shapovalov vs Ilya Ivashka
Head-to-head: Shapovalov lead 3-0
The pair have met three times and two of their encounters have gone to three sets. Perhaps this one will go three sets as well? The Canadian has been playing well as of late–reaching the quarterfinals in Rome and played well against Murray in Madrid. Expect a good match, but with the Canadian advancing to the next round in Geneva.
Prediction: Shapovalov in 3
