WTA Strasbourg Day 2 Predictions Including Ana Konjuh vs Oceane Dodin

Oceane Dodin Linz

The WTA event in Strasbourg this week hasn’t exactly attracted the top players in the world, but it should still provide plenty of exciting matches, with many players who’d otherwise not have much of a chance of getting wins at WTA level eager to make a run this week given the theoretically weak draw. It will even feature a player ranked outside the top 700 in the world.

WTA Strasbourg Day 2 Predictions

Kaja Juvan vs Lina Glushko

Head-to-head: first meeting

Juvan hasn’t been having a good season so far, but this should be a great opportunity for the young Slovenian to get some momentum going with an easy opening round win. Glushko seems to be a bit out of her depth at this level and in normal conditions shouldn’t put up much resistance against a much higher ranked opponent.
Prediction: Juvan in 2

Julie Gervais vs Aliaksandra Sasnovich

Head-to-head: first meeting

This match is likely to be one of the biggest mismatches of the entire season. Sasnovich is ranked #50 and even reached a WTA final this year already in Melbourne, while Gervais is ranked #727 at 30 years of age. Any result other than a comfortable Sasnovich win would most definitely be one of the biggest upsets of the season. It’s not very common to see players outside the top 700 in WTA tournaments, let alone winning matches.
Prediction: Sasnovich in 2

Ana Konjuh vs Oceane Dodin

Head-to-head: Dodin 1-0 Konjuh

Their one previous meeting was in 2014, so it won’t have any bearing on what will happen Monday. Both players have been having rough seasons and generally struggling to string wins, though Dodin did reach a semifinal in Marbella. Dodin will be trying to get some momentum playing at home and she might just have enough to get it done although a very close match is to be expected here.
Prediction: Dodin in 3
