WTA Rome Quarterfinals Best Bets – Featuring Ons Jabeur vs Maria Sakkari

Maria Sakkari in action ahead of the WTA Qatar Open.

It’s quarterfinals day at the 2022 WTA Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome. A blockbuster line-up is set at the Foro Italico, headlined by a fascinating matchup between the all-conquering world number one Iga Swiatek and the always dangerous Bianca Andreescu. Meanwhile, Ons Jabeur will look to extend her winning streak to 10 when she faces Maria Sakkari. Let’s take a closer look at those matches as we try to find the best bets of the day in Rome.

WTA Rome Quarterfinals Best Bets

Aryna Sabalenka vs Amanda Anisimova

There seems to be clear value with Amanda Anisimova over Aryna Sabalenka in the first matchup of the day. Anisimova has won all four of the previous meetings between the pair, yet somehow heads into this match as the slight underdog. Anisimova has beaten Sabalenka twice during this clay court swing alone, a pair of three set victories in Charleston and Madrid. I am wary of Sabalenka who seems to be playing well this week, but there’s no doubt that this is a favourable matchup for Anisimova if she is on her game. Undeniable value.

Iga Swiatek vs Bianca Andreescu

Iga Swiatek’s winning streak is up to 25; she continues to dominate all before her. If anyone can stop the Pole, it may just be a fearless Bianca Andreescu? The Canadian loves the big stage and she loves a challenge, this matchup is right up her alley. Andreescu heads into this match with nothing to lose and heap to gain, an ideal position to be in, a position she has historically thrived in. I can’t pass up these odds for Andreescu, she’s too good to ever be such a massive underdog, even in this situation against the world number one.

Maria Sakkari vs Ons Jabeur

Ons Jabeur has done well to increase her winning tally to nine matches. It would have been understandable if the Tunisian struggled this week after her big triumph in Madrid last week and little time to adjust and recover for Rome. A quarterfinal matchup with Maria Sakkari is where the winning run comes under great threat. Sakkari is looking good this week after straight set wins over Ekaterina Alexandrova and Cori Gauff and would fancy her chances in this matchup on the red clay. Sakkari has the speed and strength to counter Jabeur’s strengths and potentially expose her weaknesses, especially in these conditions.

Recommended Selections:
Maria Sakkari ML – 1.5 units @ +145

Recommended selections are based on a 5-unit betting system where 1 unit is a minimum stake, and 5 units is the maximum stake.
