WTA Charleston Day 4 Predictions Including Belinda Bencic vs Madison Keys

Madison Keys in action ahead of the French Open.

Day 4 at the WTA event in Charleston promises to be full of exciting action, including a matchup between two former Top 10 players. Former #1 Karolína Plíšková will also be featuring this Thursday in Charleston.

WTA Charleston Day 4 Predictions

Karolína Plíšková vs Ekaterina Alexandrova

Head-to-head: Plíšková 3-0 Alexandrova

The former #1 finally got a win this season after her return to action in the Sunshine Double resulted in two defeats. Plíšková was 5-7 3-5 down against Zavatska, but managed to turn it around and win, which will surely give her a lot of motivation coming into this match. She starts as a sound favorite here and should continue her run as she looks to find her best level again.
Prediction: Plíšková in 2

Alize Cornet vs Anhelina Kalinina

Head-to-head: first meeting
This is another very tight match in prospect. Cornet had a very good run to the quarterfinals at the Australian Open but she hasn’t really managed to back it up since. Kalinina has been struggling so far this season and will be looking to get back on track as soon as possible. Cornet starts as a slight favorite, but this is another match that’s almost impossible to pick.
Prediction: Cornet in 3

Jessica Pegula vs Coco Vandeweghe

Head-to-head: first meeting

Pegula is having an absolutely incredible season; she reached the quarters in Australia and the semis in Miami, only losing to the eventual champions in both occasions. She looks like she might be headed for the best season of her career and should be able to prevail with relative ease here.
Prediction: Pegula in 2

Belinda Bencic vs Madison Keys

Head-to-head: Keys 2-1 Bencic

This match features two former Top 10 players who are currently far from their best. That said, both have had good runs so far this year: Bencic is fresh off a semifinal in Miami, where she lost to Naomi Osaka. Keys reached the semifinals at the Australian Open and was only stopped by the now-retired Ash Barty, who’d end up winning the tournament. Both players have shown signs that they might get back to the heights they previously reached and will be looking to have a strong week here. This promises to be a very tight match, one that is very hard to predict and could go either way.
Prediction: Keys in 3
