Basilashvili leads the h2h 2-0, the Doha finalist has otherwise struggled this season, Brooksby needed three sets against Federico Coria in round 1, a finalist in Dallas, he’s had a better season thus far and prefers North American hard courts. Arthur Rinderknech vs Hubert Hurkacz
10-6 on the season, Hurkacz hasn’t suffered any early exits this season, Rinderknech has started the year as well going 11-8 with semis in Doha and a final in Adelaide. The Frenchman is playing well but Hurkacz on a hard court is a difficult player to defeat. I like the Polish player to get through this on the back of a good serving performance. Hurkacz in 2
Sebastian Korda vs Albert Ramos
Korda destroyed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in round 1, a quarterfinalist in Delray Beach, he has a real chance against Ramos, a tour veteran who much prefers clay. Ramos got a bye by virtue of his ranking but on hard courts he’s at least 50 ranking spots lower than he is on clay. Korda should have the upper hand and dictate play here if he can overcome Ramos high RPM top spin forehand. Korda in 2
Marin Cilic vs Alexei Popyrin
At 3-9 on the season, Popyrin is a significant underdog against the accomplished veteran Cilic. Cilic is 8-7 on the season, despite being far from his best, he should have the more threatening game here and can regain consistency to snap a three match losing streak. Cilic in 3
