Some exciting matchups are set on Thursday at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. The last two WTA quarterfinals will be completed, whilst the first of the ATP quarterfinals take place. The favourites on the women’s side look like decent bets, whilst Cameron Norrie looks be underrated once again. Let’s take a look at some of the best potential bets of the day.
Indian Wells Best Bets March 17
(6) Maria Sakkari vs. (17) Elena Rybakina
I expected Maria Sakkari to be a stronger favourite in this matchup. Sakkari has been very consistent for a while now and her game is perfectly suited to the conditions at this event. Rybakina is dangerous, but I think Sakkari wins more often than on this surface, at a higher rate than the odds suggest. Rybakina has been consistently inconsistent and usually struggles with top 10 players. If Sakkari serves well and maintains her recent level from the back of the court she should be too good.
Recommended Selections:
Maria Sakkari ML – 1.5 units @ -135
(5) Paula Badosa vs. (21) Veronika Kudermetova
It has been a fantastic week for Veronika Kudermetova, but this is almost certainly where her run comes to an end. Badosa’s odds look decent with an overreaction to Kudermetova’s last couple of wins over a distracted Naomi Osaka and a tiring Marketa Vondrousova
Paula Badosa is looking incredibly tough to beat in her title defence, the Spaniard is yet to drop a set and is coming off a commanding 6-4 6-4 win over Leylah Fernandez. Kudermetova tends to go missing in big matches. I highly doubt she can continue playing at such a high level against such a tough opponent at this stage of a major tournament. Badosa’s consistency will eventually be too much for Kudermetova to handle, the Spaniard probably covers the spread as she runs away with the match.
Recommended Selections:
Paula Badosa ML – 1.5 units @ -218
Paula Badosa -3.5 games handicap – 1 unit @ -118
(12) Cameron Norrie vs. (19) Carlos Alcaraz
Carlos Alcaraz is extremely popular right now, rightfully so. He is on his way to the top. However, Norrie is a legitimate threat and looks like he is being underrated by the market. Norrie surely has a better chance than the odds suggest.
Norrie is one of the form players on tour right, the defending champion loves the conditions in Indian Wells and will be keen for revenge having lost to Alcaraz at the US Open last year. This match will be last on court, the conditions will be slow, probably favourable for Norrie in this matchup as opposed to the quick courts where Alcaraz dominated at the US Open. Happy to side with Norrie.
Recommended Selections:
Cameron Norrie ML – 1 unit @ +220
Recommended selections are based on a 5 unit betting system where 1 unit is a minimum stake, and 5 units is the maximum stake.
