ATP Marseille Open Semifinal Predictions Including Benjamin Bonzi vs Andrey Rublev

Andrey Rublev in action ahead of the ATP Marseille Open.

The ATP Marseille Open 2022 is gearing up for an exciting finish. In a day of upsets, top seeds including Stefanos Tsitsipas bowed out. Can young hopefuls continue their surprising run or will the remaining seeds stake their claim for the trophy. As ever, we at LWOT preview and predict both semi-final matches for you.

ATP Marseille Open Semifinal Predictions

Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Roman Safiullin

Head-to-head: first meeting

This one will be an interesting affair. Roman Safiullin is building on his strong start to 2022 with a run to the semi-finals here including a couple of qualifying matches. If he continues to play like this, main draw direct entries shouldn’t be too far away.

The Russian now takes on his biggest test of this week though as he faces red hot Felix Auger-Aliassime. It’s great to see the Canadian bounce straight back up with a win in Rotterdam after what must’ve surely been a devastating loss to Daniil Medvedev at the Australian Open. Expect Safiullin to have his moments but the Canadian looks too good to not win and his groundstrokes should be good enough to out manoeuvre and out hit the Russian.

Prediction: Auger-Aliassime in 2

Benjamin Bonzi vs Andrey Rublev

Head-to-head: first meeting

Benjamin Bonzi is the player proving everyone wrong this week. The Frenchman has beaten top quality opponents this week and his win over Aslan Karatsev was scary good. A semi-final run isn’t something many predicted for Bonzi before the tournament began but credit to the Frenchman for absolutely crushing the opponents so far.

Andrey Rublev hasn’t looked comfortable at all this week and his game seems to firing in phases. The Russian would be wary of Bonzi here but Rublev would know very well his game is good enough to beat the Frenchman. Expect Rublev’s struggles to continue and Bonzi capitalising on the errors to continue his dream run.

Prediction: Bonzi in 3
