WTA Dubai Day 2 Predictions Including Paula Badosa vs Gabriela Ruse

Paula Badosa in action at the Australian Open.

Our WTA Dubai day 2 predictions feature the likes of Elise Mertens and Paula Badosa. There is sure to be some brilliant tennis played out across the eleven matches taking place on Tuesday. With that in mind, let’s take a look at how the four matches in this set of predictions should pan out.

WTA Dubai Day 2 Predictions

Elise Mertens vs Jil Teichmann

Mertens is a better hardcourt player but Teichmann has shown signs of life on this surface over the last twelve months. The Swiss is no pushover but I expect Mertens to get the job done relatively comfortably here.

Veronika Kudermetova vs Victoria Azarenka

Azarenka is the queen of hard courts and even in the latter stages of her career is a favourite in most matches she plays on the surface. That being said, Kudermetova is no slouch. The Russian has immense power and can be a real threat when everything clicks. However, her serve will need to be near faultless if she is to win here and I can’t see that happening.

Irina Begu vs Dayana Yastremska

Begu is in better form and has achieved more so far in 2022. However, Yastremska has the higher ceiling of the two and is starting to show signs of the player that could easily be a top ten regular on the WTA Tour. It feels like a matter of time before the Ukrainian has a breakthrough and it could well be here in Dubai.

Paula Badosa vs Gabriela Ruse

Hard to pick against Badosa here. The Spaniard is one of the best women in the world at the moment. Ruse looked good in her qualifying matches but it’s hard to find much going for her in this matchup outside of that. I expect Badosa to find her footing early enough to win this comfortably. Don’t be surprised if we see her in action late into the week either.

Prediction: Badosa in 2
