ATP Marseille Day 1 Predictions Including Richard Gasquet vs Mikael Ymer

Mikael Ymer Australian Open

The post Australian Open indoor hard court swing continues and the ATP Tour returns to the exciting fast courts of Marseille for the 2022 edition. The atmosphere is expected to be electric with a jam packed draw all set to compete. We preview and predict all three Round of 32 matches scheduled for you.

ATP Marseille Day 1 Predictions

Henri Laaksonen vs Stefano Travaglia

Head to head – First Meeting

Neither player has had a good start to 2022 and with the jam packed draw for this week, any match win they get should be a bonus. Henri Laaksonen would certainly enjoy the faster conditions more than Stefano Travaglia. The Swiss tennis player is capable of producing super attacking tennis off both wings and I’m banking on him to do so against the Italian.
Prediction: Laaksonen in 2

Norbert Gombos vs Ilya Ivashka

Head to head – First Meeting

Norbert Gombos is coming off a decent Australian Open 2022, having qualified and reaching the second round thereafter. Ilya Ivashka lost in the second round in Rotterdam and while Ivashka is the higher ranked player, Gombos enters this match in a much better headspace. Expect Ivashka to make a match out of it but Gombos looks ready for the win here.
Prediction: Gombos in 3

Richard Gasquet vs Mikael Ymer

Head to head – Gasquet 0-2 Ymer

Richard Gasquet would surely have liked a different player to face in his opening match here. Mikael Ymer has beaten him twice in two meetings and just recently in Montpellier. The Swede is an exciting young talent and his attacking goes well with the courts in Marseille. Expect Gasquet to struggle again and Ymer to put up a strong opening showing here.
Prediction: Ymer in 2
