ATP Melbourne Summer Set Semifinal Predictions Including Rafael Nadal vs Emil Ruusuvuori

Rafael Nadal Madrid 2021

The ATP Melbourne Summer Set is all set for an exciting final few days as two out of the top four seeds still remain in contention along with worthy new contenders. Rafael Nadal and Grigor Dimitrov will be looking to hold off in form Emil Ruusuvuori and Maxime Cressy respectively to set up a mouth watering finale.

ATP Melbourne Summer Set Semifinal Predictions

Grigor Dimitrov vs Maxime Cressy

Head to head – First Meeting

Maxime Cressy is in with a definite chance here to make the final. The American has played beautifully this week showcasing his immense talent with serve and volley and at the same time handling tough opponents in tough situations. Jaume Munar was in no way a pushover but Cressy surrendered no inch to the Spaniard and was clinical throughout.

That being said, Grigor Dimitrov is still a class above the rest especially on song but the Bulgarian has struggled so far in Melbourne. Both his matches have gone the distance and while Botic van de Zandschulp was a decent opponent, Dimitrov would still feel like he should’ve made a better start. Expect a highly entertaining clash with Dimitrov making more returns than Cressy’s previous opponents but the American should be adept at taking time away from the Bulgarian and dominate on his serve.
Prediction: Cressy in 3

Rafael Nadal vs Emil Ruusuvuori

Head to head – First Meeting

Emil Ruusuvuori absolutely blitzed past his quarterfinal opponent in Alex Molcan 6-2 6-1. The Finn is another player like Cressy who has been mighty impressive this week and he’ll likely be relishing the challenge to take on the top seed Rafael Nadal.

The rustiness Nadal showed in his opening match is still an open question on its presence since the Spaniard received a walkover in his quarter final match. Rafa would’ve no doubt loved the much needed match practice but it’s out of his hands. Expect Rafa to still be slightly off his game and he may even lose a set but he way too experienced to let this one slide. Rafa should be more consistent as the match goes on and reach the final.
Prediction: Nadal in 3
