ATP Indian Wells Day 3 Predictions

Tommy Paul vs Dusan Lajovic

Head-to-head: First meeting

Tommy Paul had a good win over 40-year-old veteran Feliciano Lopez in his first round and will be looking to continue his form. On the other hand, Lajovic will be looking to find some confidence with this match-up as the Serb has not played well the past few months. A three-setter can be expected here, but Lajovic can use this match as a stepping-stone for bigger things.

Salvatore Caruso vs Aslan Karatsev

Head-to-head: Caruso leads 1-0

Aslan Karatsev has had a decent summer coming into Indian Wells. The 28-year-old reached the third round of the US Open before losing to Jensen Brooksby in a five-setter and reached the quarterfinals of San Diego losing to Grigor Dimitrov in a three-setter. It will be a tough ask for Salvatore Caruso to get much out of the match. The Russian is playing with so much confidence at the moment. It will be a good match, but Karatsev should advance to the next round.

Cameron Norrie vs Tennys Sandgren

Head-to-head: Sandgren leads 1-0

Cameron Norrie will be looking to improve his impressive 2021 season by getting revenge over Sandgren, who beat him in the 2020 Auckland final. The American will be looking to get some confidence back in his game. The 30-year-old was dumped out early in two Challenger events last month unexpectedly. Even though Sandgren beat the Brit last year in straight sets, this will be a different match-up with Norrie playing with so much confidence. The Brit should come through.

Daniil Medvedev vs Mackenzie McDonald

Head-to-head: Medvedev leads 5-0

This will be the World No 2’s first official competitive match since his triumph in New York last month. The Russian will no doubt know that having success here in the California will mean a high chance of dethroning Novak Djokovic as the World No. 1 at the end of the year. Expect a little bit of rust from Medvedev, but he should eventually prevail without too much difficulty.
