WTA Cluj Day 2 Predictions Including Viktoria Kuzmova vs Anna Karolina Schmiedlova

Anna Karolina Schmiedlova in action ahead of the WTA Parma Open.

The WTA Winners Open in Cluj, Romania, continues on Day 2. Some women are staying in Europe to get in some more clay before the hard court season starts. You won’t see any US Open contenders in Romania, but you will see some quality tennis. Who do you think will win in Cluj on Tuesday? We also have prediction for matches featuring Alize Cornet and Mihaela Buzarnescu.

WTA Cluj Day 2 Predictions

Martina Trevisan vs Kristyna Pliskova

Trevisan has not been playing well at all recently. Her best win in months was over Schmiedlova in a WTA125 event in Bol. Pliskova, meanwhile, has not quite sustained her breakthrough from a few years ago. Still, she’s playing somewhat more consistently than Trevisan is at the moment. Unless the Italian finds some new form out of nowhere, she’s going to struggle in this one.
Prediction: Pliskova in 3

Reka-Luca Jani vs Jaqueline Cristian

Jani has spent most of this year playing ITFs. And while her results at that level are nothing to sneeze at, they’re nothing impressive either. Certainly we can’t expect Jani to go deep at any WTA-level events right now. Somewhat luckily for her, she drew someone on her level. Cristian is ranked outside the Top 100, but she has been playing well in Tour-level events recently. Add in the fact that she’s on her home soil, and the Romanian should advance.
Prediction: Cristian in 3

Viktoria Kuzmova vs Anna Karolina Schmiedlova

This should be one of the better matches of the day in Cluj. Both these players are in decent form and better than the average competitor at this tournament, so the winner here can make a run. Schmiedlova is coming off a title in Belgrade, while Kuzmova is finding her form again. The Slovakian is slightly better right now, but this could go either way.
Prediction: Schmiedlova in 3
