WTA Cluj-Napoca Day 2 Predictions Including Mayar Sherif vs Alize Cornet

The first round completes on the clay of WTA Cluj-Napoca in Romania on Tuesday, we have predictions for all of the match play action on the day including for matches featuring Viktoriya Tomova and Anna Karolina Schmiedlova.

Cagla Buyukakcay vs Kristina Kucova

Buyukakcay won their only meeting, Kucova was a finalist in Gdynia, and also had nice runs in Hamburg and Bol. The Turkish player Buyukakcay has struggled at the WTA level and looks relatively outmatched in this one. Kucova is playing much better right now. Kucova in 2

Alize Cornet vs Mayar Sherif

Sherif played in the Olympics but she’s shouldering a three match losing streak going into this match, the Egyptian player has found ITF success but none to speak on the WTA Tour, Cornet has her own two match losing streak including an opening round exit at the Olympic Games but did score a semifinal in Berlin and clay is her best surface. This should be one way traffic as the French player is expected to get off to a good start. Cornet in 2

Panna Udvardy vs Ana Bogdan

Bogdan won their only meeting, Udvardy reached the quarterfinals in Budapest at home and has been great on the ITF circuit this season with a 27-10 record and two titles. Sucess in qualifying could carry over for Udvardy, Bogdan, playing at home, has struggled all season, and I’ll back Udvardy to get the win. Udvardy in 3

Alexandra Dulgheru vs Andrea Petkovic

Petkovic won their only meeting a decade ago, the two veterans peaked in the top 30 but are far away from that now. Germany’s Petkovic reached the Hamburg final (her first WTA final in seven years) and backed that up with a semifinal in Belgrade, the home qualifier Dulgheru has found some success on the ITF circuit, but beating Petkovic is a tough task right now.
