ATP Bastad Day 1 Predictions Including Marco Cecchinato vs Richard Gasquet

Marco Cecchinato in action at the ATP Sardinia Open

Feeling “Wimbledon Blues” already? No need to worry as tennis continues tomorrow with ATP Bastad kicks off. Let’s have a look who’s playing and who we think is going to win. As always, feel free to share your thoughts on the matches as well.

ATP Bastad Day 1 Predictions

Yannick Hanfmann vs Thiago Monteiro

Head-to-head: 1-1 tied

This is a tough one to predict. Both players have been playing pretty poor on clay so far this year, but with the Brazilian being the slight “clay specialist,” will that give him a slight upper edge in this match? It could, and that experience could be the deciding factor in this match.
Prediction: Monteiro in 3

Taro Daniel vs Elias Ymer

Head-to-head: Ymer leads 2-1

The talented 25-year-old Swede will be looking to advance here in his home tournament. Ymer actually beat Daniel just recently in Lyon in straight sets. Will history repeat itself?
Prediction: Ymer in 2

Arthur Rinderknech vs Thomas Fabbiano

Head-to-head: First meeting

Rinderknech had a decent clay court season this year–the Frenchman reached the quarterfinals of Lyon and the semifinals of a Challenger in Lyon. Fabbiano, coming into Bastad as a qualifier, has had mixed results on clay this year so it will be tough to say how he will fare against Rinderknech. But if Rinderknech can continue this form on clay, he has a good chance of advancing here.

Marco Cecchinato vs Richard Gasquet

Head-to-head: Gasquet leads 1-0

A tough match to predict this one. Cecchinato is the clay court specialist, but Gasquet has been pretty consistent as of late. This will go three sets and the Italian edging through.
Prediction: Cecchinato in 3
