Sorana Cirstea Madrid 2021

WTA Strasbourg Final Prediction: Sorana Cirstea vs Barbora Krejcikova

Either Sorana Cirstea will secure a second career WTA title or Barbora Krejcikova will win her first on the clay in Strasbourg, France. We’re just a short time away from the French Open now, but these players both have unfinished business as the tournament in Strasbourg finishes up.

Sorana Cirstea vs Barbora Krejcikova

Both previous meetings have resulted in three set battles with Krejcikova winning the time they met on clay in 2017. The former top 30 Cirstea got a walkover in the quarterfinals, but wins over Venus Williams, Shuai Zhang, and Magda Linette is a solid and respectable week ahead of the French Open. Cirstea has also been great on clay this year, winning Istanbul (her maiden title), in April.

Krejcikova was in the Dubai final earlier this year and is 0-2 in WTA finals overall, still seeking that maiden champions trophy. Her path to the final was less heavy on big names this week, she beat two home French players, Oceane Dodin and Caroline Garcia, then it was Ekaterina Alexandrova and qualifier Jule Niemeier to reach the final. Given Cirstea’s impressive run lately and her results against quality competition, I’ll go with Cirstea to win another title. Cirstea in 3
