WTA Bogota Day 3 Predictions Including Arantxa Rus vs Nuria Parrizas-Diaz

Arantxa Rus 2021 AO

The round of 16 gets under way in Bogota on Wednesday. Two of the remaining top four seeds are in action, along with several low-ranked hopefuls looking for a deep run in a WTA event. We take a look at which of them should make the quarterfinals in our WTA Bogota Day 3 predictions. We also predict the day’s other four matches.

WTA Bogota Day 3 predictions

Sara Errani vs Aliona Bolsova Zadoinov

Head-to-head: First meeting

Sara Errani took advantage of a fatigued Sara Sorribes Tormo to secure a much-needed win on the WTA tour. The Italian is in the twilight of her career, but can still give the best in the business hassle when she is on song. How long she can keep up this level for is anyone’s guess. She also faces a tough competitor in Bolsova Zadoinov. Expect this to go the distance, with Errani’s court coverage and counterpunching proving the difference.
Prediction: Errani in 3

Tereza Martincova vs Maria Camila Osorio Serrano

Head-to-head: First meeting

Tereza Martincova was shaky in her first match in Bogota. The Czech has been in great form in recent weeks but took a while to get going on the clay. She won’t be able to do the same in her second round match. Maria Camila Osorio Serrano looks a real talent destined to climb the rankings in the women’s game. The 2019 junior US Open champion dismantled Vickery in her first match and will be full of confidence on home soil. That confidence and home-court advantage should see her through another match here if Martincova is off the ball again.

Lara Arruabarrena vs Jasmine Paolini

Head-to-head: 1 – 0 Arruabarrena

These two met in the 2019 version of this event. In that match Lara Arruabarrena came through comfortably in two sets. Granted the Spaniard has fallen off a bit since then, but she was at her best in her first round match. Jasmine Paolini too played good tennis to get here and will be hopeful of a deep run here to get her back inside the top 100. I expect this will be close, with both more than comfortable on clay. In the end Arruabarrena should have enough to see this through, particularly given how much she enjoys this tournament.
Prediction: Arruabarrena in 3

Arantxa Rus vs Nuria Parrizas-Diaz

Head-to-head: First meeting

Arantxa Rus did well to see of Bara in her first match. The Romanian is tricky on clay and was a tough first test for Rus. Now she faces another in Spaniard Nuria Parrizas-Diaz. Spaniards are traditionally strong on clay and Parrizas-Diaz is no different. However, Rus is an experienced campaigner on the tour and is probably playing the best tennis of her career at the moment. This is a real chance for her to achieve a new career-high ranking as well. That added incentive should be enough to push her over the edge here in what should be another close match.
Prediction: Rus in 2
