ATP Miami Open Day 2 Predictions Including Lorenzo Musetti vs Michael Mmoh

Lorenzo Musetti 2020 ATP Rome

The ATP Miami Open is under way, with plenty of exciting talents appearing on Day 2. The absence of the big names is motivating many up and comers to make a big statement and put their name on the trophy. This week will prove to be very eye-opening as to which players have what it takes to be at the top. We do our best to predict who will emerge victorious in a highly competitive day of tennis.

We are also predicting the rest of the day’s matches across three other articles. The other articles feature Jordan Thompson vs Federico Delbonis, Bjorn Fratangelo vs Fernando Verdasco and Marin Cilic vs Federico Coria.

ATP Miami Open Day 2 Predictions

Salvatore Caruso vs Yasutaka Uchiyama

Head-to-head: First meeting

This will be a close contest. Both players have struggled to put many wins together so far this year, suffering multiple first round defeats. Caruso currently sits 25 places ahead of Uchiyama in the rankings and has been playing more ATP tournaments than his opponent, who has been playing on the Challenger circuit. Despite being seeded in his two Challenger appearances, Uchiyama exited in the first round of both tournaments.

Caruso playing at higher level tournaments will certainly be an advantage for him. Uchiyama should put up a decent challenge, but Caruso’s higher ranking and experience suggests that he will be the one to clinch it.
Prediction: Caruso in 3

Tennys Sandgren vs Pedro Martinez

Head-to-head: First meeting

Sandgren is always a tough player to predict. He has proven time and time again that he can take on the top players and cause an upset. However, his ranking shows that he is unable to produce these high levels of tennis consistently. Pedro Martinez had a solid performance at the Australian Open, reaching the third round and taking Dusan Lajovic to four sets. However, he hasn’t performed since then due to an abdomen injury, and may be slightly rusty.

Sandgren’s power and tenacity should be enough to see him through, but Martinez will definitely be putting up a good fight and a three-setter is likely.
Prediction: Sandgren in 3

Thanasi Kokkinakis vs Shintaro Mochizuki

Head-to-head: First meeting
Editor’s Note: This match was originally on Wednesday’s schedule and was moved to Thursday. As such, we have already predicted it with Wednesday’s matches.
Prediction: Kokkinakis in 2

Lorenzo Musetti vs Michael Mmoh

Head-to-head: First meeting

Lorenzo Musetti is entering this match in incredible form. The 19-year-old sensation from Italy is lighting up the tennis world right now, and will no doubt be making another impressive run here. Michael Mmoh, the up and coming American, will have his work cut out for him. Musetti came through the qualifiers in Acapulco last week to cause upsets against Diego Schwartzman, Frances Tiafoe and Grigor Dimitrov. His form is so impressive right now that it’s difficult to see Mmoh offering enough to overcome him.

Mmoh is a powerful player and will not make it easy for Musetti, but the Italian should prevail in two well fought sets.
Prediction: Musetti in 2
