WTA Adelaide International Day 2 Predictions Including Coco Gauff vs Jasmine Paolini

Coco Gauff 2020 French Open

Day 2 at the WTA Adelaide International includes reigning Roland Garros champion Iga Swiatek, rising star Coco Gauff, and many others. Let’s analyze who goes on and who goes home.

WTA Adelaide International Day 2 Predictions

Madison Brengle vs Iga Swiatek

Head-to-head: Brengle leads 1-0

Expect Swiatek to continue her good run from the Australian Open here to Adelaide. The 19-year-old Pole will have recovered from her fourth round exit to Simona Halep and will want to continue her positive momentum in her first match back. On the other hand, Brengle really has struggled with form ever since the start of the year–the 30-year-old American has struggled to string back-to-back victories in her first three tournaments. Expect a good match, but Swiatek should come through.

Shelby Rogers vs Johanna Konta

Head-to-head: Konta leads 2-1

This should be a close battle as both players are far from their best at the moment. Arguably, we could say Rogers has the slight edge considering she had a fair run at the Australian Open before losing in the fourth round to Ash Barty. Konta, on the other hand, was forced to retire in her first match in Melbourne Park, so there could still be questions over her level of fitness. If both players are fit and healthy, expect a three setter, with Rogers pulling through.
Prediction: Rogers in 3

Kristina Mladenovic vs Jil Teichmann

Head-to-head: First meeting

Mladenovic is rather an enigma when it comes to singles. She clearly is one of the best doubles players out there, but when it comes to singles, she either is in really good form, or in really bad form. This makes Mladenovic a rather tough player to predict since she is so up and down. Teichmann, based on form, had a good run in the Phillip Island tournament last week, making it to the quarterfinals. If the 23-year-0ld Swiss continues her decent form, she should get through Mladenovic.

Coco Gauff vs Jasmine Paolini

Head-to-head: First meeting

Both Gauff and Paolini are coming through as a qualifiers and will be full of confidence and have belief in their own respective games. Expect a good battle between the pair and potentially even a three-setter, but the teenage American sensation should prevail in the end as she has more experience in these types of WTA main draw matches.
Prediction: Gauff in 3
