ATP Delray Beach Open Day 2 Predictions Including Noah Rubin vs Roberto Quiroz

Day 2 at the 2021 ATP Delray Beach Open features the remaining 1st round matches in the main draw. Here are my predictions for three of the seven matches taking place on day 2, with predictions for the remaining matches in a separate article.

ATP Delray Beach Open Day 2 Predictions

Christian Harrison vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry

Christian Harrison has had a lot of injuries to contend with in his career, and this is the first ATP Tour level event he will compete in since the 2018 Hall of Fame tournament in Newport. Last season, Harrison returned to the singles game, having only played doubles at the start of the season after femur surgery.

Tomas Martin Etcheverry spent all of last season playing on the Challenger Tour and ITF Tour, recording impressive results, including reaching the final of the Sibiu challenger. The 21 year old has yet to play a main draw match at tour level, so it will be interesting to see how he copes with the pressure. I’m predicting Etcheverry to build on the confidence of strong results last season and get the win in three sets.
Prediction: Etcheverry in 3

Bjorn Fratangelo vs Kevin King

Bjorn Fratangelo spent all of last season playing on the ATP Challenger Tour, recording his best result of the season at the Ann Arbor Challenger. The same is true for Kevin King, who achieved his best result of the season in reaching the quarterfinals of the Monterrey Challenger. Both have had experience playing on the ATP Tour before. However, this will be the first tour level match for both in over a year. This is the first meeting between the All American pair and i think this will be a close match due to their similar results on them both being in a similar vain of form, however i am predicting Fratangelo to get the win in two tight sets.
Prediction: Fratangelo in 2

Noah Rubin vs Roberto Quiroz

The 2020 Delray Beach Open was where Noah Rubin recorded his best result of the 2020 ATP Season, reaching the quarterfinals after coming through qualifying and recording a win over Jason Jung in the opening round. The following week, Rubin built on this run of form reaching the quarterfinals of the Indian Wells Challenger, recording a notable win over Lucas Pouille. However, outside of last year’s Delray Beach, Rubin did not record a win on the ATP Tour.

Roberto Quiroz spent all of last season playing on the Challenger and ITF Tours. He qualified here with qualifying wins over Gonzalo Escobar and Viktor Galovic. The pair have never met on the ATP Tour, and this promises to be a close match. I’m predicting that the American’s experience will see him through.
Prediction: Rubin in 3
