We have reached the final four at the ATP Sofia Open and we will predict our semifinal lineup to decide the final on Saturday.
Sofia Open Semifinal Predictions
Adrian Mannarino vs Jannik Sinner
Head to Head: First meeting
Jannik Sinner survived his quarterfinal battle with Alex De Minaur, winning in three sets, and now has his sights set on making the final. First, though, he will have to get through Adrian Mannarino. The Frenchman took out Radu Albot, also in three sets, and looked to be laboring, which could be an issue but says he is dealing with it and feels fine. At the end of the day, Sinner has way more weapons and is way more aggressive, which is why I believe he won’t have any issues making it through to the final.
Prediction: Sinner in 2
Vasek Pospisil vs Richard Gasquet
Head to Head: Pospisil 3-2
Vasek Pospisil had no issues dismantling John Millman in the quarterfinals and looks to be in fine form, playing some aggressive baseline tennis. The same can be said for Richard Gasquet, who came through in straight sets vs Salvatore Caruso–who was on a high after beating the #2 seed Felix Auger Aliassime in straight sets in the previous round. They have met five times before, with Pospisil currently up 3-2. Most recently, the Canadian took their matchup in Marseille, where unfortunately Gasquet had to pull out due to injury. I think with the slow conditions it might suit the Frenchman a little better, but I feel Pospisil is in better shape physically and Gasquet might be a little more fatigued so I’m going with the Canadian.
Prediction: Pospisil in 3
