China Open Final Prediction: Dominic Thiem vs Stefanos Tsitsipas

Dominic Thiem China Open

After a week of high drama and exciting matches, only two players remain. Will it be number 1 seed Dominic Thiem, or next-gen superstar Stefanos Tsitsipas to win the China Open final? Here’s my preview for the upcoming match.

China Open Final Prediction: Dominic Thiem vs Stefanos Tsitsipas

Dominic Thiem has enjoyed a return to form this week on the hard courts of Beijing. The Austrian has struggled to replicate his form that saw him win in Indian Wells and reach the final of Roland Garros. The final two Grand Slams of the year for Thiem both ended in disappointing first round exits, and its good to see that the Austrian is getting back to near his best.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has also had an up and down season. The high points case in the first half of the season where he reached the semifinals of the Australian Open, the final of Madrid and the semifinals in Rome. However since his loss to Stan Wawrinka in the fourth round of Roland Garros (a match that has been one of the best of the year) his form has been up and down. In terms of tomorrow’s match, Thiem leads the head to head by three wins to two. However, Thiem had a more grueling semifinal against Karen Khachanov. Both players are very evenly matched, so tomorrow’s match will be one by the player who is more consistent and can cut out the unforced errors. I predict the match to be a tight one, with long exchanges from the baseline. However, I think Thiem’s experience in finals will get him over the line in three right sets.

Prediction: Thiem in 3
