Tashkent Open Day 3 Predictions Including Alison Van Uytvanck vs Monica Niculescu

Play continues at the WTA Tashkent Open on Day 3 with all eight second-round matches. I’m here to offer my thoughts on all of them for you. I’m predicting four matches in this article, and the other four matches in another piece. Who will move on to the quarterfinals? Let’s look at the matches.

WTA Tashkent Open Day 3 Predictions

Viktoria Kuzmova vs Greet Minnen

Kuzmova is the top seed here and should win this match without too much trouble. Minnen is a decent young player who is actually playing some of her best tennis, reaching her career high ranking just a few weeks ago. Still, she’s not quite where Kuzmova is, as the talented young Russian looked solid on Monday in her first match since the US Open.
Prediction: Kuzmova in 3

Tatjana Maria vs Anna Kalinskaya

Maria is a generally solid player, but somehow Kalinskaya keeps impressing me. I’m not sure what it is, but the 20-year-old Russian just seems to have so much future talent in her. Maria, meanwhile, just snapped a five-match losing streak. Give me the upset in this one.
Prediction: Kalinskaya in 2

Katarzyna Kawa vs Kristyna Pliskova

Kawa has been somewhat decent in this Asian Swing, but Pliskyova is more talented and has been overall more impressive, even if her results have been a bit underwhelming as well. An upset would not surprise me as neither player is particularly consistent, but the more likely choice here is the less-heralded Pliskova twin.
Prediction: Pliskova in 3

Alison Van Uytvanck vs Monica Niculescu

Van Uytvank has really impressed me recently. Niculescu, meanwhile, has seen her ranking drop as she struggles with her health and her form. The Belgian is just too solid too often. I think we’ll see Van Uytvanck advance without much trouble, honestly.
Prediction: Van Uytvank in 2
