WTA Zhengzhou Day 4 Predictions Including Jelena Ostapenko vs Aryna Sabalenka

Jelena Ostapenko

We have reached the end of the second round at the Zhengzhou Open. By the end of the day on Thursday, the quarterfinals will be set. Who will advance? That’s what we’re here to help with. Here are our thoughts on all four WTA Zhengzhou Day 4 matches.

WTA Zhengzhou Day 4 Predictions

Kiki Bertens vs Ajla Tomljanovic

Bertens has been so strong this year, though she has struggled in the biggest of moments. In tournaments like this, though, she has been at her absolute best, and nearly unbeatable. She isn’t losing this match.
Prediction: Bertens in 2

Alison Riske vs Saisai Zheng

Both of these players have had very strong summers and look to be in their best form. This should be a great match, but a very tough one to predict. In the end, I’ll go with the Chinese player on Chinese soil.

Elina Svitolina vs Yulia Putintseva

Svitolina has won all four of their Tour-level meetings. She has also been playing some very strong tennis this summer, though she will be disappointed with her showing against Serena Williams in the semifinals of the US Open. Still, she is going to blast her way through this match without trouble.
Prediction: Svitolina in 2

Jelena Ostapenko vs Aryna Sabalenka

This should be one heck of a matchup. Both of these young players are future stars, and both absolutely hit the cover off the ball. Whoever controls their aggression more and keeps more shots in the court will win. Neither has been in great form recently, though Sabalenka has a higher ceiling. I think Ostapenko can be more consistent in this one.
Prediction: Ostapenko in 3
