ATP Swiss Open Day 4 Predictions Including Roberto Bautista Agut vs Jaume Munar

Swiss Open Roberto Bautista Agut

After three days of exciting tennis, the Round of 16 is set to complete on Day 4 of the Swiss Open 2019. Taking the court are some big names keen on making a good start, but their opponents might have other ideas. Who are going to complete the Swiss Open quarterfinal line up? We preview all four matches scheduled for Day 4.

ATP Swiss Open Day 4 Predictions

Pablo Andujar vs Taro Daniel

Head to head – First Meeting

This one is an extremely interesting matchup since a win for either can provide a much-needed boost for their ranking. Taro Daniel, at his best, can stand up to the top players but consistently putting up good results is something he struggles at. However, when he takes on Pablo Andujar, he’ll know he’s in with a chance.

Pablo Andujar looked slightly rusty in his first-round encounter with Dennis Novak but posted good numbers on his serve. On the clay courts, Andujar’s experience and his groundstrokes tilt the scales towards him. Expect this match to go three sets with Andujar just clinching it.
Prediction: Andujar in 3

Denis Istomin vs Dusan Lajovic

Head to head – Istomin 1-0 Lajovic

Denis Istomin played a solid match against Huesler but his next opponent is a huge step up on the current form. He beat Dusan Lajovic earlier but that was on indoor hard courts and should have little bearing on this match.

Lajovic, meanwhile, enjoyed one of his best weeks on tour winning the Croatia Open last week. Surely riding high on confidence, the Serb should guard against complacency. His consistent play from the baseline had seen him through to the finals at Monte Carlo this year and seems like he’ll take some stopping on clay. Istomin sprays way too many errors at times and can ill afford that against a man in form.
Prediction: Lajovic in 2

Joao Sousa vs Gian Marco Moroni

Head to head – First Meeting

The Italian, Gian Marco Moroni, had a great first outing, notching up his ATP main draw win. His 6-2 6-2 win over Tommy Robredo places Moroni as one of the players to look out for. But when he takes on Joao Sousa, a player who is at his best on clay, Moroni’s game may fall short. Moroni has had a breakthrough week so far winning in qualifiers and reaching the round of 16, but can he continue his dream week? Seems unlikely.
Prediction: Sousa in 2

Roberto Bautista Agut vs Jaume Munar

Head to head – Bautista Agut 1-0 Munar

Perhaps not surprisingly, seven out of nine titles won by Roberto Bautista Agut are on hard courts. His flat groundstrokes are perfect for those conditions but the Spaniard can play lights out on any surface. The 2019 Wimbledon semifinalist enters this tournament as the top seed and the favorite to go all the way.

Jaume Munar lost to Bautista Agut at the same stage at Gstaad last year, but did well to make it a three-setter. He did well to go past Malek Jaziri and has a shot if Bautista Agut has a letdown after a tremendous Wimbledon. But when was the last time we saw Bautista Agut not leaving everything out on the court and fight till the end? That fact won’t be changing anytime soon and may well prove to be a challenge too far for the younger Spaniard.
Prediction: Bautista Agut in 3
