It’s down to the last four at the Antalya Open with three of the four semifinalists seeking their first ever ATP Tour level title. Adrian Mannarino crashed, out leaving the bottom half to churn out a surprising finalist. Let’s preview and predict the two clashes.
ATP Antalya Open Semifinal Predictions
Jordan Thompson vs Miomir Kecmanovic
Head to head – First Meeting
The NextGen Serb Miomir Kecmanovic is in midst of a breakthrough week, reaching his first ever ATP tour semifinal by beating fellow Serb Victor Troicki in straight sets, 6-3 6-4. Kecmanovic has dropped his serve only once throughout the tournament and has looked particularly strong from the baseline. To reach his first ever final he’d have to go through the third seed Jordan Thompson.
The Australian too has looked impenetrable behind his serve and is yet to drop his serve. As stated before, Thompson is having a great 2019 and should be confident of his chances at Antalya. His quarterfinal matched ended prematurely as Damir Dzumhur had to retire from the match with the scoreline 7-5 1-0 in favor of Thompson. Kecmanovic is on a great run but Thompson should prove to be just out of his reach.
Prediction: Thompson in 3
Lorenzo Sonego vs Pablo Carreno Busta
Head to head – First Meeting
The Italian rising prospect Lorenzo Sonego notched up a fantastic win over Adrian Mannarino 3-6 7-6 6-3. Sonego has been playing first strike tennis with his serve doing the bulk of the damage. He has had to navigate a tricky draw getting past Joao Sousa in his opening round.
Pablo Carreno Busta seeks his first final appearance since 2017 and will be pleased with the way he has been progressing so far. A straightforward win over Kevin Krawietz followed by a tough three-sett duel against Bernard Tomic puts him in a confident state of mind. However, Lorenzo Sonego has given enough evidence of himself and will be eyeing the upset over Pablo Carreno Busta.
Prediction: Sonego in 3
