#AndNEW: Drew McIntyre Defeats a Wounded Seth Rollins at WWE WrestleMania 40

Drew McIntyre is the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion after defeating Seth Rollins in a hard-fought match at WWE WrestleMania 40. McIntyre is no stranger to winning World Championships in the company. However, this might be the sweetest victory yet.

Here’s why this is the crowning moment for the “Scottish Psychopath.”

Winning With Nobody in Attendance

Drew won his first WWE World Title back at WWE WrestleMania 36. While this is a huge achievement, there was no one around for this monumental moment. With the world reeling from the global pandemic, McIntyre had to perform and carry the company on his back without anyone to recognize his greatness live.

After all that, McIntyre has finally won the big one at the ‘biggest one’ in front of tens of thousands of people.

Annihilating the Architect

Seth Rollins came into this match badly wounded, after suffering an injury in his match alongside Cody Rhodes against The Rock and Roman Reigns at WWE WrestleMania 40 night one.

With his sworn enemy CM Punk on commentary, Drew smelled blood like a shark in the water and did not let up the whole match, hitting a Claymore Kick in the first seconds of the match and almost winning the title then and there.

While some may think this victory is tainted, Rollins knew the potential consequences of his choice to compete the night prior. What McIntyre did was capitalize on the moment, a chance he earned at Elimination Chamber, to notch another World Championship victory.

This win at WrestleMania 40 marks the third time Drew McIntyre, AKA ‘DM Hunk,’ has reached the mountain top, and it seems like he has no plans of surrendering his place anytime soon.
