#AndNEW: Seth Rollins Wins Universal Championship

Seth Rollins

As an over the top and explosive SummerSlam has come to an end, we have a brand new champion in Seth Rollins. Seth “Freakin” Rollins has once again slain “The Beast”, Brock Lesnar, on his way to becoming Universal Champion for the second time in his career.

The build-up to the second huge match between these two this year was one that left fans wanting more and possibly hurt Seth Rollins more than anything. Rollins came into this match with his ribs all taped up following the two beat downs by Lesnar on Raw back to back weeks. With doubt going into the match, these two had a lot to prove and did exactly that.

In the main event of SummerSlam, Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar started the match off hot and lasted all throughout. Rollins reversed two German Suplexes early on, leading to the first Stomp of the night and almost shocking the world early. Lesnar caught Rollins when he went for the second Stomp early on, hitting him with an F5. This would lead to domination by Lesnar for the next few minutes. Lesnar continuously attacked the ribs of Lesnar with shoulder after shoulder to the midsection and brought Suplex City to Toronto.

On the outside of the ring, Lesnar would look to F5 Rollins into the LED ring post like he did two weeks ago but instead was left with being shoved into the post. Rollins would continue to fight and start to get back into the fight. “The Beast Slayer” hit two suicide dives before being caught on the third. When Lesnar caught him, he drove him as hard as he possibly could into the LED ring post. After the thud of Rollins’ back going into that post, it seemed all but over.

Yet again, Seth “Freakin” Rollins exemplified why he has been one of the best wrestlers in the WWE for years now. Lesnar had cleared off the Spanish announce table but never got Rollins on to it, instead, being the one left on it. Rollins hit a Superkick, laying out “The Beast”. Seth Rollins, injured ribs and all, took the chance of a lifetime to try and slay Brock Lesnar once and for all. He would climb to the top rope, hitting a gigantic Frog Splash onto Lesnar, crashing through the announce table.

He would roll Lesnar into the ring to only hit another Frog Splash on Lesnar for a near fall. As the match came to a close, Rollins would hit a huge Stomp for yet another near fall with the fans on their feet. Rollins would attempt to “Burn It Down” with a final Stomp. Brock instead had plenty to catch him up for an F5. As he went to finish it off, Rollins landed on his feet and hit a Superkick. Rollins would hit a third and final Stomp on Lesnar to recapture the Universal Championship in the hottest match of SummerSlam.

Seth Rollins’ road back to the Universal Championship has found him in a weird spot with the fans, resulting in the crowd being 50/50 with him to start off the night. By the finish of the match, Seth Rollins had the entire crowd directly behind him as he celebrated with the Universal Championship, officially becoming a two-time Universal Champion, the second in history.
