It was another wild weekend in the Atlantic Coast Conference, and the latest episode of This Week In The ACC didn’t hold back. Hosts Jeff and Matthew welcomed back guest Brian Seigla, co-host of the Boundary Corner Virginia Tech podcast, to sort through the highs and lows of Week 2.
Virginia Tech Struggles Dominate the Conversation
No program needed a win more than Virginia Tech, but instead, the Hokies delivered what Brian bluntly called a “dumpster fire” of a second half. In a game that Brent Pry arguably had to win to stabilize his job security, Tech collapsed at home to an SEC opponent. The result? An angry fan base, renewed questions about Pry’s future, and the prospect of a long ACC season in Blacksburg.
Clemson Concerns and Florida State’s Steady Hand
Elsewhere, Clemson raised red flags after trailing Troy 16–3 at halftime. Although the Tigers stormed back, Jeff and Matthew both agreed that the early struggles spotlight deeper issues, especially with Georgia Tech looming. On the flip side, Florida State impressed with its businesslike win, avoiding the letdown many feared after a big Week 1.
What to Watch in the ACC Week 3
Looking forward, Brian circled Clemson–Georgia Tech as the must-see game of the week, with both programs still searching for their true identity. Miami, despite its top-five ranking, could be on upset alert against a South Florida team riding high after back-to-back wins over ranked opponents. The crew also highlighted national matchups like Texas A&M at Notre Dame, with playoff implications already hanging in the balance.
The episode wrapped with raw honesty from Brian about Virginia Tech’s trajectory. From buyout talk to possible interim fixes, it’s clear that the Hokies’ football future is at a crossroads.
