This week on “Let’s Go Racing with David Starr,” the crew highlighted the weekend that kicked off NASCAR’s 75th season at the Daytona 500.

Lewis Franck, a friend of the show and a writer for Reuters, joined Tyler Jones and Dominic Aragon, as all three gave their perspective of being at The Great American Race. For Tyler, it was his fourth Daytona 500 and Dominic’s fifth, but for Lewis, he guessed it was his 44th or 45h Daytona 500.

“Dominic and I, we’re old,” Jones said during the show, “But not that old—”

“Gee, thanks!” Franck quipped back.

The trio discussed how big the Daytona victory was for not only Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who picked up his first Cup Series victory in five years, but for the small team of JTG-Daugherty Racing and only their second win since forming their Cup Series organization in 2009.

“You win the Daytona 500, you’ll be sticking around the sport for a while if you want to,” Aragon said during the show, citing the lengthy careers of Derrike Cope and Trevor Bayne.
