The Renault F1 Team have become the second team this year to unveil their car for the upcoming 2017 Formula 1 Season, following the release of the Sauber C36 yesterday.
Renault unveiled the R.S.17 in London where the new aerodynamic regulations for the 2017 Formula 1 Season were put on display. Like the Sauber C36, the Renault R.S.17 also sports a fin on the engine cover, along with the ‘thumb’ style nose that has been used by a number of teams up and down the grid since 2015. Once again, a more angular and wider front wing has been used, as well as a lower rear wing, complying with the new regulations.
Like last year, Renault have once again adopted a yellow and black livery on the car, however, black is more prominent than it was last year in the colour scheme.
The R.S.17 will be driven by Nico Hulkenberg and Jolyon Palmer over the course of the 2017 season, with Hulkenberg joining Renault after leaving Force India at the end of last year. 2017 marks Palmer’s second season in F1, and second season at the Enstone-based team. Sergey Sirotkin will act as the team’s development driver.
The Renault R.S.17 will make its debut next week on the first day of the first Formula 1 pre-season test at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain.
