Lewis Hamilton Disqualified from Brazil GP Qualifying

LH Brazil DSQ 2021

In what could be a title defining moment, Lewis Hamilton was disqualified from qualifying at the Brazil GP after a DRS infringement.

Lewis Hamilton Disqualified

Lewis Hamilton had his P1 stripped from him by the stewards. The result means he’s relegated to the back of the grid for sprint qualifying. After finding an infringement on the rear wing of Hamilton’s W12, the stewards had no choice. The weekend isn’t over yet, but Hamilton will have it all to do if he is to salvage anything.

He looked in his typical dominant form over qualifying, but to start from the back in the sprint is crushing. Having taken a five-place-grid penalty already for his engine, he’s got a tough task to even get into the points.

At the scene of his maiden World Crown in dramatic fashion, Brazil is proving to be dramatic again for Hamilton. This time though, not in the way he would have hoped.

It’s going to take a massive turnaround to deny Max Verstappen clinching the title from here.

Max Verstappen Fined

The stewards found Verstappen guilty of touching Hamilton’s rear wing after qualifying. As a result of his crime, they handed him a fine of 50,000 euros. The stewards decided this didn’t cause the fault to Hamilton’s rear wing, hence it was just a fine and Hamilton was punished. Mercedes felt it was an ‘open question.’
