The Morton Buildings World of Outlaws Late Models are geared up for four nights of racing at the DIRTCar Nationals in Volusia this weekend, only it won’t open the season this time.
The tour kicked off it’s year way back in the first weekend of January in Vado, New Mexico for a three-race weekend and come to Barberville this week for what is normally the season opener.
Fans of Brandon Sheppard are just hoping it goes as well as the first portion of his season has gone.

Sheppard and Rocket1 Racing have been putting the entire dirt racing community on notice in the first month of the year.
In his 13 races with the team, Sheppard has corralled four wins and has failed to finish outside of the top three just once in that time.
That includes a stretch of three, second-place finishes with the Outlaws at Vado Speedway Park.
The stellar start to the season has Sheppard sitting atop the Outlaws late model points standings three races into the planned, 55-race schedule.
With the DIRTCar Nationals stretching on over the week, it will bring some extra competition and familiar faces in to take on the series regulars.
Both 2016 and 2018 series champions Josh Richards and Mike Marlar, respectively, as well as 10-time Sprint Car champion Donny Schatz plan on racing through the weekend.
Not to mention, 2015 rookie of the year Brandon Overton plans to race as well.
It all starts on Wednesday night at Volusia Speedway Park, with hot laps scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. ET on DirtVision.com.
