Formula E Ready for the Tokyo E-Prix: The Seasonal Turning Point

Formula E leaves Monaco, turning our focus to the Asian continent. Rounds eight and nine will be held in Tokyo, Japan, between 17th and 18th May.

Formula E, Tokyo E-Prix: The Pit Boost Returns for Round 8

The Tokyo E-Prix debuted in the Formula E calendar in 2024. The track is preparing for its second appearance in the FE championship. Being very technical, the Japanese circuit is one of the most challenging for teams and drivers.

The track is 2575 meters long and runs along the Tokyo International Exhibition Centre. In total, there are 18 curves. The first sector has three straights, while the curves are particularly slow.

One thing pilots should not worry about is energy. The track offers numerous braking points, which make saving energy easier. In 2024, the Tokyo circuit was the stage for several overtakes. The Attack Mode proved to be an ultimate tool.

Last year, the event in Tokyo was very successful among fans, and this year could be even better. The track has been modified to improve car performance.

The eighth round, scheduled for Saturday, 17, also includes using the Pit Boost. The mandatory pit stop will thus introduce a strategic aspect to a race that is already exciting.

The Japanese weekend is the turning point of the season. Oliver Rowland comes as the favourite. The English driver from Nissan, who won in Monaco, leads the championship.

Last year, Rowland conquered the pole position, finishing the race in second place. The 2024 Tokyo E-Prix was won by Maximilian Guenther, who was driving for Maserati. Third position for the Andretti driver, Jake Dennis.
