Charles Leclerc and Oliver Rowland have both been disqualified from Saturday’s Formula 2 Feature Race at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. This is because both drivers’ cars failed to pass post-race scrutineering as a result of excessive wear to the underfloor plank on their cars, meaning that the floor thickness was below the allowable limit.

Following the race, Oliver Rowland and Artem Markelov also received five second time penalties, with Rowland forcing Markelov off the track and the Russian driver then gaining an advantage by exceeding track limits. These penalties cancelled each other out however, meaning that Markelov held onto second.
In the race, Leclerc soared to a dominant win while Rowland rounded out the podium in third place. Through the disqualification of the pair, Markelov has been promoted to first place, marking his third race win of this season. By finishing in fourth place, Luca Ghiotto was promoted to second place, resulting in a 1-2 finish for Russian Time. Antonio Fuoco also secured his second podium of 2017, being promoted to third.
Gustav Malja and Nyck de Vries were then promoted to fourth and fifth place, bringing a large haul of points to the Team Standings for Racing Engineering. Sergio Sette Camara was promoted to sixth and Roberto Merhi to seventh.
It was Norman Nato was was promoted to eighth place, meaning that he will start from pole position for Sunday’s Sprint Race at Spa. Trident’s Santino Ferrucci and Campos Racing’s Robert Visoiu were promoted to ninth and tenth after previously finishing outside of the points.
