European races
In May , after almost a month off, the F2 goes back to its birthplace. The first European race will be in Imola (17-19 May). In 2023, due to a weather emergency in the region, the GP was canceled. The second weekend with consecutive races begins in the jewel of the Mediterranean, Monte Carlo, on May 23-25.
Then begins two of the most stressful months for the young drivers with three races back-to-back. The first is in Spain (June 21-24) to move to the complex circuit of Spielberg (June 28-30). The last one is Silverstone (July 05-07).
Round 9 will be held in Hungary (July 19-21), and the last races before the summer break will be in Belgium on July 26-28. The drivers will be back in their single-seaters in Monza on August 30 – September 01.
After the changes to the 2024 Formula 1 calendar, the Azerbaijan GP has been moved from April to September 13-15. An autumn break of more than two months will follow.
A new venue
The biggest change in the 2024 calendar is the addition of a new circuit for Formula 2. The field will follow Formula 1 in Qatar on November 29 to December 1, and it will compete for the first time in the circuit of Lusail. The new venue is going to replace the Zandvoort circuit.
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, has praised the success of the Formula 2 Championship. He has also commented on the addition of a new circuit, saying:
“The breadth of venues and the addition of Qatar is another sign of the strength and interest in F2 globally and the talent we have in the Championship is very positive for the future.”
The season, as every year since 2013, will end in Abu Dhabi on December 06-08, concurrently with the season finale of Formula 1.
