Formula E Silly Season: All the 2024 grid rumors

Formula E Season 9 ended last week, but there is no peace on the grid, with teams and drivers trying to find the right seats for 2024.

Only a few days after the London E-Prix and the end of the 2023 season, everyone is talking about the expected reshuffle for the next year. Here are all the voices of the paddock:

Abt Cupra: Sensational racing comeback Vettel?

Robin Frijns is going to leave ABT Cupra. The announcement came during the London weekend from the team itself. With Frijns leaving, the ABT seat is now empty, and some voices propose Sebastian Vettel as one of the ABT choices. The 4-time Formula 1 World Champion, has not raced in a series since his retirement from Formula 1. The German racing superstar has been a very vocal activist in making motorsports greener. What better way would there be to spread that message than to race in Formula E?

Andretti: Lotterer out, Drugovich in

Andre Lotterer, who drove for Avalanche Andretti during this season, is expected to depart from Formula E. The driver was close to leaving the category even last year, but at the last moment, he signed with Andretti to replace Oliver Askew.  This opens the race to the second Andretti seat. Many voices are linking the 2022 Formula 2 champion Felipe Drugovich to this spot, with the Brazilian being the favorite to race beside Formula E World Champion Jake Dennis.

Nissan: Nato out of the team?

The Nissan lineup is ready to change, or so many rumors say. Sacha Fenestraz will probably remain with Nissan for 2024, while Norman Nato is close to leaving it. The reasons for the possible exit of the Frenchman aren’t clear, but Nissan seems to be interested in Oliver Rowland. The voices report Nato being talking with Andretti, but Drugovich seems likely to take that seat. The number 17 risks leaving Formula E, if he isn’t able to find a place soon.

Jaguar: Cassidy-Evans for 2024

The 2024 Jaguar lineup is one of the most interesting ones. Last weekend Jaguar officially confirmed the departure of Sam Bird. Rumors had been swirling for some time now as Nick Cassidy got linked to the team earlier this season. If true, Mitch Evans will work with Cassidy as his teammate next year. The lineup would be one of the favorites of the grid, with Cassidy and Evans who finished the 2023 Formula E championship in second and third position.

Envision: The return of Frijns

As mentioned earlier, Frijns is going to leave ABT Cupra. The question now is, where will Frijns go? The most accredited idea is that he will come back to Envision, his former team. In fact, with Nick Cassidy’s possible departure, the seat next to Sebastien Buemì is empty and Frijns could come back.

Maserati: Günther in or Günther out?

In the last weeks, the rumors linked Max Günther to Andretti, and his goodbye to Maserati started to seem possible. The Italian team was apparently talking with Nyck De Vries, who was in the London Formula E paddock, but the former AlphaTauri driver now seems far from a Formula E comeback. After a moment of doubt, Günther is expected to stay with Maserati for 2024.

While there isn’t much official news about the 2024 grid yet. Rumor and speculation always goes on as everyone is trying to figure out who will race in Formula E Season 10.
