Campos Racing has announced its third and final driver for the 2023 F1 Academy season with the addition of Uruguayan driver Maite Caceres.
19-year-old Uruguayan driver Maite Caceres has been announced as the third and final driver to be representing Campos Racing in the inaugural F1 Academy season. Caceres will join Nerea Marti and Lola Lovinfosse. The Spanish-based team is the first out of the five teams to announce their full lineup. She is the eighth driver to be announced for the season.
Caceres’ path to the F1 Academy
Caceres began karting at the age of six and made her single-seater debut in 2021 in the Urugyuan Formula 2 Championship where she finished ninth in the standings with 45 points. In 2022, she moved to the USA to compete in the USF Junior season where she finished 21st with a season-best finish of 11th. Caceres is currently racing in the Formula Winter Series after a late decision to join Campos during the second round. She is racing alongside her F1 Academy teammate Marti and currently sits in 13th after finishing in the top ten in both races.
Alongside her racing duties, Caceres is also a Chemical Engineering student at IQS (Institut Químic de Sarrià) in Barcelona.

Following the announcement, Caceres stated:
“This past month I’ve been in close contact with them and I can really see the determination and the compromise the team have, values which I share. We will continue working to achieve our goals together.”
Adrian Campos (Team Principal of Campos Racing) added:
“I would like to welcome Maite (Cáceres) to Campos Racing. She is a driver who we have closely followed for some time due to her talent and plenty of room for improvement. Alongside Nerea (Martí) and Lola (Lovinfosse), we have put together a very strong team to fight for top results throughout the 2023 F1 Academy season.”

This will be Caceres’ third season racing with three different Formula 4 cars. Despite a tricky 2022 season, the Uruguayan has shown she’s capable of scoring points.

It has also been announced that the first pre-season test will commence on April 11-12 in Barcelona, Spain. The season opener will take place two weeks later at Speilberg, Austria.
