Formula E moves to South Africa for the Cape Town E-Prix, the first all-electric race ever held in sub-Saharan Africa.
Leaving India after the Hyderabad E-Prix, Formula E is ready to debut another new location on the 2023 calendar. The race will take place during the “10 day E-Fest”, an event organized by Go Green Africa to promote the green economy transition throughout the continent. It will be the biggest sporting event in Cape Town since the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The Circuit – Cape Town E-Prix
The race will occur between the city’s most important landmarks and next to the ocean, with Signal Hill in the background. The 2.94 kilometers layout features 12 turns and it will probably be the fastest track of Season 9. Cape Town made some track upgrades to the original layout as part of the deal to host the race annually.

Drivers’ Championship
With the championship battle starting to take form, Pascal Wehrlein created an increased gap between himself and Jake Dennis. Andretti’s driver needs a good result in the Cape Town E-Prix to remain close to his rival, while the rest of the field is already losing touch with Wehrlein.

Race Predictions
After missing the podium in India, the championship leader Wehrlein could come back on top at the end of the Cape Town E-Prix. The African race will offer new potential for the drivers who had to retire two weeks ago. Both McLaren and Jaguar could be the surprise of this weekend.
