F2 Testing: 2023 Pre-season Day 3 results

The final day of Formula 2 pre-season testing commenced as both a veteran and rookie of the series topped the timing screens.

As the final day of F2 testing in Bahrain came to a close, drivers turned their attention to longer race runs with the Campos duo, veteran Ralph Boschung and rookie Kush Maini, who were the ones to beat.

Morning Session (AM)

Boschung’s race simulation was untouchable as he completed his lap two seconds faster than Trident’s Clement Novalak. Dennis Hauger was also on a mission to beat Boschung’s lap as the MP Motorsport and Novalak traded second place early on in the session. Ultimately, the Red Bull junior (Hauger) was unable to keep up with the improving times throughout the morning, falling out of the top ten. Nissany clocked the most laps of anyone with 46 laps. Team preparations were vital as everyone was gearing up for the first round of the season in a fortnight, with over 750 laps being completed during the session.

  1. Ralph Boschung (Campos Racing) – 1.45.027
  2. Clement Novalak (Trident) – 1.47.031
  3. Victor Martins (ART Grand Prix) – 1.47.054
  4. Roy Nissany (PHM Racing) – 1.47.223
  5. Frederik Vesti (PREMA) – 1.47.264

  9. Jack Doohan (Virtuosi Racing) – 1.47.900
  10. Juan Manuel Correa (VAR) – 1.47.912

Afternoon Session (PM)

Theo Pourchaire was quick to sprint to the top in the first nine minutes before Roy Nissany pipped him by 0.008s and then again by Maini. DAMS’ rookie Arthur Leclerc triggered the first red flag of the session after stopping on track, the second being caused by Trident’s Roman Stanek with 20 minutes spare.

  1. Kush Maini (Campos Racing) – 1.42.623
  2. Roy Nissany (PHM Racing) – 1.42.905
  3. Theo Pourchaire (ART Grand Prix) – 1.42.912
