Max Verstappen has set a new personal F1 record at the Dutch Grand Prix and may break that at Monza next weekend.
There is nothing more rewarding for a Formula 1 driver than winning in their home country, in front of their fans. Max Verstappen has done just that in Zandvoort for the second year in a row.
Although the route to victory was not easy for the Dutch driver, his winning streak nearly slipped through his fingers thanks to the Silver Arrows. Red Bull did everything they could to give Verstappen the most extensive victory at home in front of a sea of orange.
His Longest Winning Streak
The Red Bull star has now won 10 races this season, matching the number of victories he had in last year’s championship-winning campaign. With six races left in the calendar, he has a great chance to match the F1 record of 13 victories in a single season. Both Michael Schumacher in 2004 and Sebastian Vettel in 2013 have managed that feat.
But with his win at the Dutch Grand Prix, Verstappen has four consecutive wins for the first time in his career (France 2022 – Netherlands 2022). This places him tied with the 12th longest winning streak in F1 history alongside:

- Jenson Button (Bahrain 09 – Turkey 09)
- Jim Clark (Belgium 63 – Britain 63)

If Verstappen wins at Monza next weekend, which he is favored to do, that will tie him for the 6th best streak of all time.

He has also entered the top ten list for the number of laps led (1,636), ahead of the Brazilian driver Nelson Piqué (1,600) and the late Austrian Niki Lauda (1,593).
By crossing the finish line first in Zandvoort, Verstappen has secured his 30th victory in Formula 1, just two shy of Fernando Alonso, moving him up to eighth on the all-time list. He now sits an incredible 109 points ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, and his teammate Sergio Perez.
At this rate, ‘unstoppable’ Max will surely smash additional records in the coming months and years. But can he surpass Hamilton’s record for the most wins in F1 history? McLaren’s Lando Norris thinks so:
“If Max has two seasons like this, he can get another 30 to 40 wins in the next year-and-a-half to two years, and then he is up to 70 already, so he could quite possibly [beat Hamilton’s records].” He told the Independent.
