Mexico E-Prix: Porsche Past Year Results and the Hopes for Season 11

Porsche has a successful history in Mexico, where Formula E races since 2016. In Season 10, the team obtained both pole position and victory on the track of the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

The brilliant result was collected by Pascal Wehrlein, who became World Champion at the end of the year.

In 2024, the Mexican weekend opened the Formula E season. Porsche started the season positively. The team proved to be a tough title contender.

However, it wasn’t a perfect kick-off weekend for Porsche. Wehrlein was the only driver to end the race. Antonio Felix Da Costa had to retire after a collision, leaving the team with mixed feelings.

Even in the past, the Mexico City appointment has been a good one for Porsche. The team also succeeded during Season 9, in 2022. Wehrlein and his former teammate Andre Lotterer finished the Mexican race with an outstanding 1-2 finish. Wehrlein came first, followed by Lotterer.

Porsche’s power unit collected another win in 2023, during Season 10. The edition saw Jake Dennis obtaining the victory. The Brit drives for Andretti, a Porsche customer team. The result highlighted the strengths of the Porsche powertrain.

What happened in Sao Paulo?

Season 11 has started with a podium for Porsche. Antonio Felix Da Costa finished the Brazilian E-Prix in second place, only behind Mitch Evans.

The Portuguese collected the first Porsche trophy of Season 11, but he was the only driver to finish the race for the team.

Wehrlein, who was fighting for victory during the last laps, was involved in a nasty incident with Nick Cassidy from Jaguar. His car turned over against the barrier, leaving the driver upside down.

Luckily, the German emerged unharmed from the crash, but he lost the possibility to collect important points. The Season 10 World Champion will arrive in Mexico in search of his first points of the year.

Following the Brazilian race, Porsche announced that the chassis on Wehrlein’s car had been replaced. Now, the TAG Heuer-backed team is determined to jump back from the delusion of the first round.
