Josh Williams to Make NASCAR Cup Series Appearances in 2024

Josh Williams will make select NASCAR Cup Series starts in 2024 for Kaulig Racing including the Busch Light Clash exhibition and Atlanta.

The announcement was shared by the team on Monday. Williams will drive the No. 16 charter on a part-time basis alongside A.J. Allmendinger. Other drivers to fill the seat, including later opportunities for Williams, will be announced at a later time.

He also joins Kaulig Racing as a full-time driver of their No. 11 entry for the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series season. News of the signing broke just two weeks after last season’s conclusion. Williams will race alongside returning veteran Allmendinger (No. 16) and series rookie Shane van Gisbergen (No. 94). Daniel Hemric moves to full-time Cup Series competition in their No. 31 car.

Kaulig Racing is operated by Team Owner Matt Kaulig and Team President Chris Rice, Team President. The company started Xfinity Series operation in 2016 and has raced full-time ever since. Allmendinger captured the team’s first win in September of 2019 at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s Roval. He would also claim their first victory in the Cup Series at the inaugural Indianapolis Road Course race in August of 2021. In total, Kaulig Racing has captured two Cup and 23 Xfinity trophies to their resume.

Josh Williams grew up racing anything he could touch. From go-karts to Fastrucks, and from bandoleros to legend cars, he eventually transitioned to stock cars. From 2010 to 2018, Williams raced in 102 ARCA Menards Series races amassing two wins during the 2016 season. The bulk of his career has taken place in the NASCAR Xfinity Series racing for various teams since 2016 including Jimmy Means, Mario Gosselin, and B.J. McLeod. Through 186 races, Williams has captured eleven top 10’s with eight coming at different racetracks. Additionally, he runs his own team of Josh Williams Motorsports, a driver development program for up-and-coming talents to pave a career in racing.

A fan-favorite in the crowds and garage, Williams has turned a career of limited funding into a dream opportunity now competing weekly against the greatest drivers in the world.

The 2024 Busch Light Clash will take place this weekend on Sunday, February 4th from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Williams will make his points-paying debut in the Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday, February 25th. NASCAR’s 76th season kicks off with the 66th Daytona 500 on Sunday, February 18th from Daytona International Speedway. All aforementioned races will take place on FOX.
