Which Red Bull driver will leave the weekend leading the Championship? Find out in the latest LWOS F1 Predictions Roundtable.

Race number three on the F1 calendar is at the Albert Park Circuit for the 2023 Australian Grand Prix. The improved 3.27-mile circuit will provide high-speed corners and a plethora of overtakes to those in attendance. Two races down and two wins for Red Bull so far. Coming into the weekend, all eyes will be focused on both drivers. Can Perez outperform Verstappen? Will Aston Martin’s performance continues? Or who will lead the charge for victory? Find out what the staff had to say about their race winner, podium, driver of the day, and surprise result. It’s F1 Predictions time.

Race Winner

  • Ajanni – Max Verstappen
  • Arturo – Sergio Perez
  • Fatima – Sergio Perez
  • Joaqin – Fernando Alonso
  • Justin – Max Verstappen
  • Nathan – Max Verstappen
  • Thomas – Fernando Alonso

The race winner predictions this weekend look a bit different, but more so keeping tradition. The Red Bull duo of Max Verstappen with three votes,  and Sergio Perez with two votes lead the way. The final two final votes sway to Fernando Alonso. The race win looks like it may be between both Red Bulls. Fernando Alonso’s name continues to be thrown in the mix as Aston Martin’s pace keeps them with the front pack. Surprisingly no one decided to select last year’s winner Charles Leclerc. Could this be the chance for Perez to outperform his teammate? Or can Alonso finally snap his winless streak?

Remaining Podium (2nd & 3rd)

  • Ajanni – Sergio Perez & Charles Leclerc
  • Arturo – Charles Leclerc & Max Verstappen
  • Fatima – Max Verstappen & Chalres Leclerc
  • Joaqin – Sergio Perez & Max Verstappen
  • Justin  – Sergio Perez & Fernando Alonso
  • Nathan – Sergio Perez & Charles Leclerc
  • Thomas – Max Verstappen & Sergio Perez

Red Bull and Ferrari again are the main team selection in our podium predictions, but for good reasons. Currently, Red Bull, Ferrari, and Aston Martin are the fastest teams in that order. One thing to notice, this marks the second straight week where Mercedes did not receive a vote. Both Thomas and Joaqin feel both Red Bull drivers won’t win the race. Charles Leclerc was predicted to be on the podium, alongside Fernando Alonso.

Driver of the Day

  • Ajanni – Alex Albon
  • Arturo – Sergio Perez
  • Fatima – Valterri Bottas
  • Joaqin – Fernando Alonso
  • Justin – Max Verstappen
  • Nathan – Max Verstappen
  • Thomas – Fernando Alonso

Nathan was the only person who correctly predicted that Max Verstappen would win the DOTD award last time out. This time around, Ajanni and Fatima stood out for their predictions. Alex Albon will be planning to fight for points following a DNF last race weekend. Valtteri Bottas is in a similar light as Albon. Score points in the first race, and struggle the following race. Fernando Alonso and Max Verstappen lead the votes with two each. I believe Sergio Perez will continue his pressure on this teammate to take the lead in the championship.

Surprise Result

  • Ajanni – Leclerc starts from the pole
  • Arturo – Carlos Sainz DNF
  • Fatima – Red Flag
  • Joaqin – Alpine top five
  • Justin – Logan Sargeant points finish
  • Nathan – Alpha Tauri score their first points of the season
  • Thomas – Williams finish in the top 10, garnering their first points of 2023

The first street circuit of the year, Australia is always in line to produce quality races. Justin continues the pick for the third straight week in wishing for Logan Sargeant will score points this weekend. I believe the Ferrari curse will continue in Australia as Carlos Sainz is on the unfortunate side. Leclerc most definitely needs a result to get his way back into the fight. A red flag during the race is not out of the picture but can give an assist to Alpha Tauri and Williams can get an opportunity to score points.
