Roberto Faria has been announced as the second driver in PHM Racing’s lineup with the Brazilian set to make his Formula 3 debut.
PHM Racing has announced that nineteen-year-old Roberto Faria will be joining Sophia Floersch as the second driver representing them in the 2023 Formula 3 Championship. Faria is the 27th driver to be confirmed for the upcoming campaign.
Faria’s Path to F3
Faria made his single-seater debut in 2019 in the British Formula 4 Championship with Fortec Motorsports after racing in the European and World Karting Championships. Finishing 11th in the standings he retained his seat for 2020 and managed to improve his performance slightly claiming two podiums to finish tenth. The same year he raced in the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship where he finished 14th and earned one podium.
In 2021, Faria raced in the GB3 Championship with Fortec finishing fifth with one win and nine podiums. He also participated in the F3 Asian Championship earlier in the year and finished 17th with six points. In 2022, Faria joined the Sauber Academy in March and spent a second season in GB3 having switched to Carlin. He finished fifth in the standings with six podiums.
This past September, Faria took part in day one of the Formula 3 post-season test with Vans Amersfoort Racing where he completed 213 laps.

Following the announcement, Faria stated:
“It feels like a dream coming true. Even without knowing most of the circuits in the calendar I’ll do my best to deliver great results and to show the team why they have put their trust in me. I cannot wait to start racing in Bahrain.“
Roland Rehfeld (Team Manager of PHM Racing) added:
Roberto ‘Beto’ Faria is one of these young passionate Brazilian talents with raw speed, ambition and demanding focus. His testing was promising, but now, we need to bring him into the working attitude, which is necessary to succeed in FIA F3.”
